As a member of the NCSU marching band drumline, I performed on the snare drum and was part of the redline, which is the top performing group within the drumline. Earning a position on the drumline at NC State requires going through a competitive and lengthy audition process that tests skill level, consistency, and overall performance ability. The redline represents the most advanced players and is responsible for maintaining the highest level of precision, timing, and consistency during performances. In comparison, the whiteline consists of developing players who are still building their chops and working toward reaching the redline level.
Through this experience, I developed strong skills in discipline, teamwork, and attention to detail. Performing at a high level required consistent practice, focus, and the ability to work closely with others to stay perfectly in time. This experience also improved my ability to handle pressure, take direction, and strive for continuous improvement.
