This section highlights my hands-on experience in the poultry industry along with the technical and practical skills I have developed. Through my work on a commercial broiler farm, I have gained valuable knowledge in daily operations, equipment maintenance, and animal care, while building a strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Field Experience
I have hands-on experience working on a commercial broiler grow-out farm from 2023 to 2024 where I helped manage daily operations across 12 houses. one farm was 8 houses and the other farm was 4 houses, totaling approximately 300,000 birds per production cycle. My responsibilities included conducting daily house walks to monitor bird health, feed and water consumption, mortality rates, and overall flock performance. I assisted with chick placement, load-out at market weight, litter management, and clean-out between flocks while following strict biosecurity protocols.
I also supported the farm’s transition from Mountaire to Wayne-Sanderson Farms by assisting with facility upgrades to meet new integrator specifications. This included deep cleaning, replacing tunnel ventilation fans, servicing lighting systems, repairing feed and ventilation components, and helping with general maintenance and equipment improvements.
