This section highlights my academic background, coursework, and projects completed throughout my education.
In Swine Production and Management, I gained hands-on experience working with swine at the Swine Educational Unit. The course combined classroom instruction with practical, real-world applications of swine industry practices. I participated in hands-on labs where I assisted with animal care and health monitoring. I also took part in practical examinations that evaluated my understanding of swine production systems, facility operations, and proper animal handling techniques. These experiences helped strengthen my knowledge of livestock management and improved my practical skills in a production setting.
In Poultry Management, I gained hands-on experience working in a group setting to better understand commercial poultry production systems. A major project in the course included conducting a weight study comparing two different strains of chickens. This involved collecting data, monitoring growth rates, and analyzing performance differences between the strains. Through this project, I developed skills in data collection, teamwork, and interpreting production results to understand efficiency in poultry operations.
In Introduction to Livestock and Poultry Industries, I gained a broad understanding of the structure and practices of the livestock and poultry sectors. The course covered the fundamentals of animal agriculture, including production systems, industry standards, and career opportunities within the field. I also learned about a variety of livestock species, including cattle, swine, poultry, equine, and other major animal industries. Through classroom instruction and discussions, I developed a stronger foundation in how these industries operate and their importance in the agricultural economy.
